Jurisprudence and Ethics

This a combined six (6) hour course that includes topics such as, Nursing Practice Act, stands of practice, documentation of care, principles of nursing ethics, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and the Board’s Disciplinary Sanction Policies regarding: Sexual Misconduct; Fraud, Theft and Deception; Nurses with Substance Abuse, Misuse, Substance Dependency, or other Substance Use Disorders and Lying Falsification.

Nursing Documentation

This is a six (6) hour course that includes topics such as, nursing standards related to accurate and complete documentation; legal guidelines for recording; methods and processes of recording; methods of alternative record keeping; and computerized documentation.

Medication Administration with clinical component

This is a six (6) hour didactic course with 24 hour (12hrs/day) clinical components focusing on medication administration only. The course content includes: a review of proper administration procedures for all standard routes; computation of drug dosages; six rights of medication administration; factors influencing the choice of route; and possible adverse effects resulting from improper administration. Transportation to the clinical facility will be provided on the weekends. Pick up at the hotel lobby.

Physical Assessment with clinical component

This is a six (6) hour didactic course with 24 hour (12hrs/day) clinical components focusing on physical assessment only. The course content covers all body systems and during the clinical component, assessments will be performed on live patients. Transportation to the clinical facility will be provided on the weekends. Pick up at the hotel lobby.

Additional information (i.e. location, time, drug testing, immunizations, attire, equipment) for nurses participating in the clinical portion of Medication Administration (MA) and Physical Assessment (PA) will be emailed at least 1 week prior to beginning clinical rotation. Clinical components are currently offered on the weekends only.
